To Reach The Green Light At The End Of The Pier

FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES: "We are saving ourselves through the words," says Eleanor, the leading lady of a novel-in-progress. This exploration into the creative process -- which includes plenty of distractions/tangents /thoughts & rants by Eleanor, her Biographer, and selected guest artists -- will continue until Eleanor is certain her story is "right." (But we dare not jump ahead of ourselves.)

There will be the occasional typo (as Eleanor points out), and much of this is intended to be "original draft" -- what comes out of our mouths (heads) first, and then set down in that order. Not all of it will be included in the novel, but all of it is happening in real time.

Hunters & Gatherers: Looking To March

Eleanor says:
I am setting the tone and atmosphere for the rest of my story -- the creation of it, at least. The "process," as I am reminded. My Biographer and I will be spending much of this week going through archived manuscript pages ... some of them 18 years old, and some of them, collected -- several inches high, maybe even a foot (I need to find a yardstick, actually). We plan to begin posting again (our final 31 entries) in earnest beginning Sunday, March 1, so please mark your calendars and -- please -- please, please, please -- come back for a look. Thank you. (I mean this as an "invitation," as I am reminded to write.) (Perhaps I am only setting part of the tone and only part of the atmosphere, but whatever happens, you can see it unfold.)

Hi, Eleanor. Hi, Geoff. I just popped over here to hide out from Ishmael Reed for a spell.

Thanks for joining us for the stretch run, everybody.

Rodger, I hope that Mr. Reed didn't follow you.

ELEANOR says: "Please turn the page. Keep reading."

For more of Eleanor and her Biographer -- as well as the work of our many guest artists -- check out the older postings. "Everything is part of the process, and the process is the journey," Eleanor says.
